Making an Impact...

K-12 Service Learning Youth Programs
Schools   |   Community-based   |   Faith-based

Today, continued budget cuts to education, a lack of structured community service programs, and the necessity of school fundraising programs have become part of the times we live in.  It compels us to re-examine the quality of our children's learning lifestyle and brings with it a new awareness and the need for community involvement.

The IMPACT! service learning program is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection.

Our unique focus assists community readiness, development of instructional challenges, project implementation, as well as needed tools and resources that foster fun and exciting activities for young people and their community to experience together; as demonstrated through:

Enriching the learning experience
Traceable learning experience are incorporated into the multiple challenging reflection activities that are ongoing and that promote deep thinking and analysis about oneself
and one's relationship to society, while promoting diversity and mutual respect among all participants.

Teaching civic responsibility
Participants collaborative partnerships involve cooperative rather than competitive experiences and thus promote skills associated with teamwork, community involvement, and citizenship.  It leads to young people's engagement and incorporates research on effective instruction, helping to improve higher order thinking skills which mutually benefit and address community needs while developing their character, leadership, and life skills.

Strengthening communities

As discovered and conveyed through young people, the IMPACT! program offers all its participants a chance to take part in their active education while simultaneously addressing the concerns, needs, and hopes of communities.

At the conclusion of the program, a Give Where You Live, celebration of learning continues to advocate the role that youth play, bringing added visibility and credibility to their efforts in the community event of the year!  Participating young people are awarded an inspiring yearbook which captures their learning journey, and brings back to life their meaningful service, program participation and challenges through photographs, reflection assignments, community service activities and partnerships.  In celebration together, community members and young people showcase their giving solutions; their journey is complete and they become the celebrities, inviting sponsors, supporting community members, students, teachers, family and friends.
